Type your room into the planner below and it tells you, piece by piece, whether the floor footprint and the ceiling fit. It uses the outer sizes each maker publishes, listed in the table so you can check the numbers yourself even with scripts turned off.

The planner is a screen, not a layout. A rack that “fits” still needs room to load a bar, and a rower needs room at both ends. Where a maker publishes use space, the note on that row says so. For everything else, add your own space around each piece before you order.

How the planner decides

For each piece, it compares the listed length and width with your room in feet (converted to inches), trying the piece both ways around. If a piece lists a height, it compares that with your ceiling and flags anything within 12 inches. Ticking the box on a row adds that piece to a running floor-area total, shown against the size of your room.

Two limits matter. First, the planner does not know where doors, windows, vents or lights are. Second, a ceiling that clears the listed height does not leave room for pull-ups or overhead presses. For a rack with a pull-up bar, measure from the floor to the lowest thing above where you will stand.

Pieces in the table

The list is small on purpose: only pieces with a maker-published length, width and height that were readable on a manufacturer page on October 22, 2026. It includes two squat racks, a functional trainer, a rower, an adjustable bench, dumbbell storage and a mat. Pieces without a published footprint are left out rather than guessed.

Two rows are worth a note. The QuickDraw cradle row doubles the published cradle width to show a pair side by side; that is arithmetic on REP’s number, not a REP measurement. The Concept2 row uses the assembled size, and Concept2 separately lists a smaller storage size and a recommended use space of 9 by 4 feet.

Use it with the build guides

If your numbers say yes, the two complete builds use several of these pieces: home gym under $500 and home gym under $1,000 . For the order to buy things in, see start a home gym in the new year . The room clearance planner lets you drop your own measured shapes into a room and move them around.
