This planner starts empty so you can build a budget for your chosen purchases, using the equipment already owned, the quotes actually available and the work still unpriced. Add flooring, storage and accessories alongside the main equipment. The tool does not generate a shopping list or attach a price to an unnamed gym.

Record the complete purchase, one item at a time

For each line, enter the exact item, quantity, status and chosen unit price. Match the price’s selling unit to your quantity: one pair of dumbbells is different from one individual dumbbell, and a flooring pack is different from one tile. An owned item contributes zero new acquisition cost. That does not erase its original purchase price, create a resale credit or make moving and installing it free.

Use the whole-plan fields for delivery, tax, installation and other fees that are not already included in an item’s entered price. Count each amount once. Tax is an entered amount, not an assumed rate; the planner does not determine which parts of a transaction are taxable. If a quote already includes shipping or assembly, avoid adding those costs again.

The CFPB’s exercise-equipment comparison worksheet starts from required features and compares similar equipment against the shopper’s needs and budget. Use the same defined item or package when collecting your price inputs. The FTC’s online-shopping guidance also calls for comparison shopping and checking delivery, return and refund details. This calculator records your figures; it does not retrieve current offers.

Keep unpriced work visible

A blank unit price means that purchase is unpriced. A blank fee means that amount is unknown. Enter zero only when you intend to record no charge. The displayed known subtotal adds priced acquisitions and known fees while naming the missing counts; it is not a complete project total until all entered amounts are known.

An optional overall budget is compared with that known subtotal. If prices remain missing, the amount left after known costs is not proof that everything fits the budget. The total also excludes equipment, work and recurring charges you have not entered. Include separate lines for required preparation or accessories you identify, without assuming every room needs the same work.

USD amounts use exact whole cents, with at most two decimal places per entered amount. Quantities multiply the unit price before fees are added. There is no loan model, investment return, membership-payback assumption or universal recommended spending level.

Make phases and space checks your own records

An optional phase label groups items under the stages you choose. Blank labels remain unassigned. Phase costs include acquisition only; whole-plan fees remain a separate, unallocated block. Rows follow the order their first item was entered. A phase label is not a scheduled order or a prediction about when prices will change.

The fit field records your own review, uncertainty or known conflict. A marked review without its manual or measurement reference stays unresolved. A cheap purchase can still conflict with the room, and an owned item still needs an appropriate place. The planner does not turn a checked box or a low subtotal into physical clearance approval.

For the underlying decisions, use the equipment-selection guide to define movements and setup needs, the bench measurement checklist for one candidate’s space, and the flooring grid calculator for installed tile quantities. The modular-versus-integrated comparison addresses equipment architecture, a separate choice from adding your entered costs.

Save the record before leaving

Entries remain in this tab without automatic saving. Download JSON to preserve the items, IDs, phases, unknown values and fee settings for restoration here. A saved file replaces current records only after the whole versioned file validates; save your current record first. CSV and print retain the chosen costs and calculation limits.

The planner supports up to 100 items and 1,000 units per item, with each entered amount capped at $1,000,000. Those are calculation limits, not suggested quantities or budgets. The worksheet does not assess equipment condition, floor loading, installation competence or affordability for a particular household.
